iLA Win with Single Assessment Services

Reading time: 2 minutes

Accessing aged care services in Western Australia has become significantly simpler for older people as of January 1, 2025, thanks to the introduction of the Single Assessment System (SAS). This represents a significant step forward in streamlining the process and ensuring older adults receive the support they need.

The Department of Health and Aged Care has confirmed iLA as a successful tenderer for the new SAS. This landmark achievement secures iLA's future and reinforces its commitment to providing high-quality, person-centred aged care assessments.

What is the Single Assessment System?

The Single Assessment System (SAS) simplifies and improves the experience of older Australians accessing aged care services.

The SAS will consolidate the current Residential Aged Care Assessment Service (RAS), Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT), and the Australian National Aged Care Classification (AN-ACC) into a single, cohesive system, meaning a more coordinated and efficient experience for older adults seeking aged care support. Under the SAS:

  • RAS and ACAT assessments will now be known as Aged Care Assessments.
  • AN-ACC assessments will now be known as RAC Funding Assessments.

iLA's Role in the SAS

The state has been divided into three service areas: WA-1 (Metro), WA-2 (Regional), and WA-3 (Remote). iLA will provide:

  • Aged Care Assessments: iLA will provide state-wide coverage across WA-1, WA-2, and WA-3, encompassing both clinical and non-clinical assessments. This means iLA will support older adults throughout the state, regardless of their location.
  • RAC Funding Assessments: In WA-1 (Metro), iLA will conduct clinical assessments to determine appropriate funding levels for residential aged care.

What This Means for iLA and the Community

iLA is excited to play an important role in working to improve the lives of older Australians and ensure they receive the proper support at the right time. They are confident that the SAS will create a more positive and accessible experience for those navigating the aged care system as their needs changed.
