geat2GO

Indigo is proud to be the national provider of Goods, Equipment and Assistive Technology (GEAT).

Through geat2GO, an Australian Government initiative under the Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP), we help senior Australians access helpful devices and equipment to continue living independently and make daily tasks easier.

Indigo was appointed as national GEAT provider in June 2021 as part of a trial to close equity gaps for eligible CHSP customers due to issues such as geographic location and the availability of prescribing health professionals.

Why geat2GO?

The geat2GO service allows approved requestors to access product information and advice, compare and contrast items of equipment, and to place and track GEAT orders with support from Indigo's customer service, clinical excellence and procurement teams.  Further clinical advice and resources are offered to aged care assessment teams, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, and other allied health professionals across Australia to support them in selecting and accessing optimal GEAT solutions for their clients.

Clients are offered Australia-wide delivery, assembly and installation options and individualised care plans to support the provision of equipment and products to ensure alignment with their needs.

In 2022, the service was expanded to include emergency funding access to assist relevant Home Care Package clients with an urgent need for assistive equipment and products.

Frequently Asked Questions

Goods, Equipment and Assistive Technology (GEAT) is a service type under the Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) which funds service providers to deliver entry-level services to help older people stay at home.

geat2GO is a CHSP provider like other GEAT providers. geat2GO aims to fill a gap BUT should only be used as a last resort for clients. GEAT should be provided by local GEAT providers in the clients Aged Care Planning Region before accessing geat2GO. What makes this service different is that it’s a trial of a national model to supply and deliver GEAT to clients across Australia and as such, geat2GO is not funded through grants as is common for other providers. The Australian Government has provided $43 million in funding for the 2025 F/Y (1 July 2024 to 30 June 2025) which means the service must operate within this set budget for the entirety of the financial year. geat2GO cannot increase its funding as it does not have access to flexibility provisions as other CHSP providers do.

Most GEAT service providers are allocated a number of units of specific goods to supply in a designated Aged Care Planning Region and, like all CHSP services, must only supply within that region unless taking advantage of flexibility provision rules to provide goods to other regions. geat2GO allocates its funding across all regions in Australia and therefore provides a service wherever there is need.

CHSP provides funding for eligible clients to access GEAT. While this funding is available, we encourage only accessing GEAT support for immediate needs. This ensures funding remains available should circumstances change or future needs arise.

No, Indigo is not an equipment supplier. Indigo is a GEAT service provider that engages supply partners nation-wide. Goods are identified and reviewed by our equipment review group to ensure they meet the requirements of the CHSP GEAT service, are of good quality, competitively priced and able to be delivered across Australia.
